Men's Tennis tabbed fifth in TCCC Preseason Poll
TCCC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll
Springfield, Mass. - The Endicott men's tennis team was selected to finish fifth in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Preseason Poll as voted on by all of the head coaches in the league. The announcement was made today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.
The Gulls are coming off a 9-9 campaign in 2010 in which they reached the TCCC Quarterfinals, only to fall to Salve Regina 5-2. It was the fourth straight season in which Endicott made the conference tournament. Under new head coach Lauren MacKay, the Blue and Green aspire to move deeper in the playoffs and capture their first conference title.
Senior Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin Islands), Endicott's Second Team Doubles All-TCCC selection from a year, returns to lead the Gulls on the hard courts.
Endicott also welcomes back six returning players including Porter Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.) who went 9-2 and 7-4 in singles play, respectively. Williams also sported a 9-5 doubles record.
Roger Williams, 16-7 overall and 11-0 in-conference last season, edged Nichols by just two points to claim the top spot in the preseason poll. Rounding out the top five are last year's champions Salve Regina, Western New England College and Endicott.
