2012 CCC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Endicott men's tennis team enters the 2012 season as the fourth ranked team in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) as voted upon by the league's head coaches. The poll, which selected Nichols as the preseason favorite to hoist the championship trophy on May 5th, was announced by CCC Commission Gregg M. Kaye this morning.
Coming off their fourth semifinal appearance int he past five season, the Gulls welcome back five returners who were in regular rotation in 2011 including All-CCC Honorable Mention Singles junior Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.). Joggi went 12-4 overall and 8-1 in conference singles play. Specifically, at the \#3 singles position he posted an 11-4 mark while in \#2 doubles play between partners Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.), Joggi went 5-5 on the season.
Cohen and Ross will also be integral parts of Endicott's success this spring as they combined for an 18-9 (12-5 CCC) record combined in singles play. In his sophomore season, Ross was a standout in \#5 singles with an 8-2 mark in league matches.
Senior Porter Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) is also expected make an impact in his final season especially in doubles play where he thrived in 2011 with an 8-4 (4-2 CCC) showing in the \#3 slot.
Following their February 22nd home match with Bentley, the Gulls will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina to face tough non-conference opponents in preparation for a difficult league schedule. The Blue and Green start CCC play on Saturday, March 24th on the road against Salve Regina.
