BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team dropped its match against Gordon, 6-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Tuesday evening at the South Campus Tennis Courts.
In doubles play, the Gulls and Fighting Scots went back and forth as Endicott secured the first doubles match, 8-6, at the No. 3 spot thanks to the pairing of Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) / Collin Dinardo (Westport, Mass.).
Gordon then picked up a win at the No. 1 flight (8-7 (7-0)), however, the Gulls came away with a little more momentum out of doubles after Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) and Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) earned a tough victory at the No. 2 position (8-7 (7-3)).
Meanwhile, in singles, Gordon bounced back as the Fighting Scots rattled off four straight wins at the No. 3 (6-2, 6-1), No. 5 (6-4, 6-1), No. 2 (6-3, 6-2), and No. 1 (6-4, 6-2) spots to clinch the match.
The Blue and Green were able to come away with one victory in singles at the No. 6 flight as Dinardo notched a 6-4, 6-4 triumph.
"We are giving what we have, and that's all I can ask for," said Endicott men's tennis coach Anthony D'Angelo. "Nobody is going to feel sorry for us, let's see if we are able to pick ourselves back up."
Endicott (7-11, 3-3 CCC) will travel to Babson College on Thursday, April 18 at 3:30 PM. Gordon (6-11, 3-3 CCC) will have a week off before the Fighting Scots host Suffolk on Tuesday, April 23 at 4:00 PM.
