Men's Tennis Bests Suffolk On Senior Day, 6-1
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Suffolk, 6-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday afternoon at the South Campus Courts.
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Suffolk, 6-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday afternoon at the South Campus Courts.
Following the match, George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Patrick Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) were honored for their contributions to the program and the Endicott community in a Senior Day ceremony.
The Blue and Green swept the doubles flight to take the first point in the conference matchup.
Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) and Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) got the Gulls going, securing a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. Danes and Eric Scalici (Essex Fells, N.J.) also picked up a 6-0 win at No. 2 while Ethan Hopman (Summit, N.J.) and Johnson finished off the sweep with a 6-2 triumph.
Endicott continued its dominance in singles action as No. 4 Scalici (6-0, 6-1) and Hopman (6-0, 6-0) put the Gulls up 3-0. Kadel won the clinching point in the match at No. 1 singles, defeating his opponent, 6-1, 6-1.
Johnson earned his first singles win of the season at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Danes had to fight back after dropping the first set, 7-5, to then win 6-0 in the second set, and 10-7 in the final set, giving Endicott the 6-1 victory.

Endicott (6-7, 4-3 CNE) takes on the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) tomorrow, Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 AM. Suffolk (0-11, 0-8 CNE) hosts Curry on Saturday at 5 PM.
