BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team beat St. Joseph, 7-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Courts.
The Gulls took the first point of the conference match by sweeping the doubles flight.
Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) and Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) started off the doubles victories for Endicott with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Patrick Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) and Ethan Hopman (Summit, N.J.) followed up with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 while George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Eric Scalici (Essex Falls, N.J.) completed the sweep at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.
The blue and green proceeded to keep the winning mentality alive in singles action as No. 3 Hopman (6-3, 6-4) and Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.) at No. 6 (7-6, 6-1) put Endicott up 3-0. Terpko won the deciding point of the match at No. 4 singles, securing a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
Kadel earned a high pressure three set victory at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 4-6, and 10-7. Scalici had to claw his way back into his match after losing the first set, 4-6, he went on to win the second set, 6-4, and 10-8 in the final tiebreaker set. Danes capped off the shutout win with an intense two set match at No. 2 where he took the first set, 6-4, and fought back from 4-1 in the second set to win 7-6, 7-4 in the tiebreaker.

Endicott (7-7, 5-3 CNE) visits Wentworth on Tuesday, April 22 at 3:30 PM. The University of St. Joseph (10-8, 5-4 CNE) is awaiting the first round of the CNE tournament that starts on Saturday, April 26.
