In doubles action, the Gulls soared to an early lead via two convincing victories.
No. 3 Patrick Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) / Ethan Hopman (Summit, N.J.) produced a 6-2 win, while No. 2 George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) / Eric Scalici (Essex Falls, N.J.) clinched the opening point with a 6-3 victory.
Meanwhile, Hopman (No. 2, 6-3, 6-2), Scalici (No. 5, 6-2, 7-5), and Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) (No. 1, 7-5, 3-6) provided the crucial wins to advance to the CNE Semifinals.
