Men's Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Match To Wheaton (Mass), 4-3
NORTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team fell to Wheaton (Mass.), 4-3, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Beard Field House.
The Gulls took the doubles point to begin the match, with Drew Benporath (South Gilford, West Australia) and Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) taking the opening doubles match at No. 2 (6-2). Then is was Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) and Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) securing the point also with a 6-2 win at No. 1.
In singles action, Wheaton (Mass.) got their first point on the board with a victory at No. 3 singles. Benporath responded with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles to put Endicott up 2-1.
The host Lyons tied the matchup again with a singles triumph at No. 5 before Kadel gave the Blue and Green a 3-2 lead earning a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Wheaton (Mass.) picked up the hard-fought 4-3 win with victories at No. 2 and No. 6 singles.
