Men’s Tennis Handles UNE, 7-0
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team defeated the University of New England (UNE), 7-0, on Wednesday evening in a Conference of New England (CNE) matchup at the South Campus Tennis Courts.
Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany), Drew Benporath (South Guildford, Western Australia), Eric Scalici (Essex Fells, N.J.), and Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) were all double-winners for the Gulls.
Kadel claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles after teaming up with Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) for a clean victory (6-0) at No. 1 doubles.
Benporath and Marsallo combined for a similar result at No. 2 doubles before taking their singles matches at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), respectively.
Scalici rounded out the group with sweeps at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 doubles (6-0) with Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.).
Brennan Drolet (North Smithfield, R.I.) and James Zeolie (Amherst, N.H.) also were victorious at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 6 (6-0, 6-0) singles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kadel leads the squad with six singles victories on the season (2-0 CNE)
- Scalici and Smith are 5-4 overall as a doubles pairing (3-2 at No. 3).
- Endicott is 3-1 at home.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Gulls (5-6, 3-0 CNE) welcome Suffolk to the South Campus Tennis Courts on Saturday, March 28, at 1 PM. UNE (1-3, 0-2 CNE) hosts Hartford this Saturday at 1 PM.
