Men’s Tennis Downs Colby-Sawyer, 5-2
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Colby-Sawyer, 5-2, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday night at the Bass River Tennis Club.
Due to timing constraints at Bass River, singles were played before doubles tonight.
Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) pushed Endicott out to an early 1-0 lead with a swift 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1.
Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) followed with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 4, before Colby-Sawyer answered with wins at No. 6 and No. 5 to tie the match.
Drew Benporath (South Guildford, Western Australia) and Eric Scalici (Essex Falls, N.J.) answered right back when it mattered most via gritty victories at No. 2 (7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-4) and No. 3 (6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-4), respectively, to keep the Gulls undefeated in CNE play (5-0).
In doubles, Endicott took the final point of the night thanks to Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.) and Scalici at No. 3 (6-1), and Marsallo and Benporath at No. 2 (6-4).

"That was a big win for the guys, especially considering four matches went to three sets," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Dejan Stankovic. "Our energy was high throughout the match, and we showed a lot of fight out there!"
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott has won five straight matches (all in CNE play).
- The Gulls are 5-1 at home this spring.
