The Largest Men's Collegiate Volleyball Tournament in the NationThe field for 2004 includes several talented NCAA Division III teams from New England to Texas. Based on the success and response to last season's eight-team tournament the field was expanded to twelve teams this year. D'Youville College will be returning to defend their 2003 title along with Rivier College, Medaille College, Ramapo College of NJ, and SUNY New Paltz. First year participants include MIT, Hunter College, New Jersey City University, Dallas Baptist University, Palm Beach Atlantic University and JWU. This year's field includes 5 of last season's 8 ECAC participants, including the ECAC South Champion's Ramapo College. Also, six of the twelve teams appeared on the AVCA Coach's Poll with 4 of them ending the year in the top 15. It also includes two newcomers to NCAA D III Men's volleyball in Palm Beach Atlantic (making the switch from NAIA) and Dallas Baptist (making the switch from NCAA D II).

The teams will each play 4 matches over the weekend. On Friday, they will compete in four 3-team pools, which will be used to seed them for Saturday's three championship brackets. The four winners of Friday's pools will be placed in the Gold Bracket while the second place teams will enter the Silver Bracket and the third place teams will be seeded in the Bronze Bracket.
The tournament will be hosted at the Post Science and Fitness Center with the majority of the action taking place in the George L. MacDonald, Jr. Gymnasium. The Post Center opened in September 1999. This 84,000-square-foot facility houses the Sports Science and Fitness, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Athletic Training Programs. The building also includes: classrooms; training rooms; labs; offices; fitness, dance, weight and aerobic rooms; racquetball courts; locker rooms; a competition gymnasium seating 1,200; and a field house with a suspended running track will comfortably host this four court event.
