Daniel Toth Named NECC Player of the Week
DANBURY, Conn. ? Endicott men?s volleyball junior middle Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.) has been named NECC Player of the Week as he exhibited a consistent blocking presence and offensive efficiency in a2-1 week for the Gulls. This is Toth?s first collegiate weekly honor.
DANBURY, Conn. – Endicott men's volleyball junior middle Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.) has been named NECC Player of the Week as he exhibited a consistent blocking presence and offensive efficiency in a2-1 week for the Gulls. This is Toth's first collegiate weekly honor.
Toth totaled 19 kills (1.90 per set) on a .484 hitting percentage and went off for 16 total blocks (1.60 per set) in Endicott victories over NECC opponents Regis (3-0) and Newbury (3-1) as well as a straight-set loss to non-conference foe Vassar.
In Endicott's 27-25, 25-10, 25-23 win over Regis on Tuesday, Toth turned in an attacking line of 9-1-12 (.667) with five assisted blocks as well as four digs and a service ace. Three days later against Vassar, the Blue and Green struggled to get their offense in gear but the nation's 23rd ranked blocking team was solid including Toth who had one solo block and five more assisted stops. The following day, Endicott scored a 25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16 triumph over Newbury thanks in part to Toth's nine kills on a .467 hitting percentage with five block assists and an ace.
Toth now ranks 15th among NCAA Division III players in blocks per set, averaging 1.11 per set. That number is also tops in the conference.
Endicott (10-10, 9-0 NECC) is off for spring break and will next take on conference opponent Lesley on Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 p.m. at home.
