Spring Preview for Club Sailing
This Spring will see Endicott Sailing return to some familiar collegiate sailing venues for regattas, but also to their very first regatta at the Coast Guard Academy for the weekend of April 10-11 for the New London Invitational. The racing season will begin for the team two weekends before that at Salve Regina for the Southern Series 2. Other regattas include the Brandeis Invitational on April 17 at Tufts and the Northeastern Invitational on April 24 at MIT. Once again the team will compete in Dartmouth's No Ringer Regatta on May 2, just before final exams and graduation get underway at the end of the semester.
The Spring 2010 team will be commited to practices and attending every regatta together in hopes of gaining valuable team skills for the future. Grose '13 grew tremendously during the Fall '09 season, having joined the team after not sailing for an extended period of time and never having raced before. His placings continued to rise throughout the season gaining valuable experiences skippering for almost every crew member on the team. Hornat '12 has also shown serious committment for continued growth as a sailor, having never sailed before joining the team. Brady '12, has led the underclassmen in her commitment to the team both on and off the water. Bispham '10 enters her fourth and final year on the team, hoping to grow more accustomed to a skipper position. Longtime sailors, Elizabeth Buchanan '11 and Lori Skinner '12 are taking the Spring semester off in order to study abroad and we wish them the best of luck, but are eager to see them again in the Fall. Coach Doug Walker remains the head coach of the team and has been such since its founding five years ago.
