Endicott Splits With Curry To Open CCC Play

MILTON, Mass. — The Endicott softball team traveled to Curry College for the first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader of the season and came away with 7-1 victory in the first game before being handed a 3-0 loss in the second. 

GAME ONE: Endicott 7, Curry 1

The Gulls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Kayla Sheldon (Burlington, Mass.) walked to get on base and would later score on a double from Jamie Hopgood (Warwick, R.I.). Hopgood then found her way to home plate to score during a fielders choice hit by Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.)

Curry added a run of in the bottom of the first to make the score 2-1 and it would stay that way until the top of the seventh when Endicott tallied five runs. 

Favreau homered with two on base to make it a 5-1 game and then Danielle Stratton (Agawam, Mass.) singled to left field to send two base runners home on an error. 

Maggie Oram (Lexington, Mass.) got the start on the mound and pitched a full seven innings. She struck out ten batters while only allowing three hits and one walk to improve to 4-1 on the season. 

GAME TWO: Endicott 0, Curry 3

The first four innings of game two were scoreless for both teams, but the Colonels were able to break the 0-0 tie with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Talia Forte (North Scituate, R.I.) doubled to get on base and then scored on a single to right field from Jocelyn Dimond (Weare, N.H.)

Curry added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth when Michaela Colleran (East Bridgewater, Mass.) hit a two run homer. 

The Colonels defense held the Gulls scoreless in the remaining inning to secure the 3-0 victory. 

Endicott pitcher, Michaela Hamill (Lynn, Mass.) shifted to 3-1 on the season with the loss and recorded eight strikeouts. 

Rebecca Black (East Greenwich, R.I.) earned the win on the mound to improve to 1-8. She recorded two strikeouts and allowed only two hits throughout the game. 


  • Endicott is now 40-4-1 all-time against Curry. 
  • Favreau led the Gulls on offense during the afternoon as she went 3-for-4 with four RBI in game one. 


Endicott (9-3, 1-1 CCC) returns to action on Monday, April 9 with a doubleheader at Gordon starting at 3 p.m. Curry (4-14, 2-6 CCC) hosts Newbury College at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
