Softball Splits Florida Opener Against Edgewood and Nazareth

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Endicott softball team split a pair of games against Edgewood (3-0, L) and Nazareth (6-1, W) on Sunday afternoon at Fortune Road Athletic Complex.
GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD 3, ENDICOTT 0
WP (3-1): Lauren Prigge (Green Bay, Wis.) — 4.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
LP (0-1): Maddie Hartman (Rochester, N.H.) — 2.1 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K
SV (1): Hailie Boardman (Plainfield, Ill) — 3.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Edgewood scored two of its three runs in the third inning, pushing across the first after Catherine Seay (Marlborough, Mass.) caught a runner stealing, but the rundown enabled the third-base runner to cross.
Offensively, the Gulls were led by Elyse Saccoccio (Coventry, R.I.) with her two hits, while Mia Mitchell (Medford, Mass.), Ella Tower (Windham, N.H.), Kyla Story (Salisbury, Mass.), and Ava Kelley (Norfolk, Mass.) each had one hit in the loss.
Endicott threatened in the fourth inning with back-to-back hits from Saccaccio and Tower, but ultimately left the runners stranded and were unable to muster up any further offense in the loss.
GAME TWO: ENDICOTT 6, NAZARETH 1
WP (1-0): Kristen Beebe (Brentwood, N.H.) — 6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 6 K
LP (1-1): Amanda Linnenbrink (Fairpoint, N.Y.) — 6.0 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 1 BB, 5 K
The Gulls came out swinging early in the first inning, quickly loading the bases. Alexa Gillis (Goffstown, N.H.) drove in the first run with a single to right field, and Kylyn McLaren (Rochester, N.H.) followed with a walk that forced in the second run.
Next inning, Tower knocked in two more runs, and Gillis added another RBI with a single to left field that brought Tower home, extending the lead to 5-1.
Abby McClaflin (Easthampton, Mass.) opened the inning with a double to right field. Gillis reached first on an error, while McClaflin added another run with her heads up baserunning in the bottom of the fourth.
In the top of the seventh inning, Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) retired a batter and forced a groundout to seal the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Gillis notched her first career hit, and also tallied three RBI's.
- Mitchell collected her first multi-hit game of the season.
- Beebe earned her 18th career win (29th career start).
- This is Endicott's first-ever matchup against Edgewood.
- Endicott is 2-0 all-time against Nazareth.
