    PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Endicott softball team defeated Johnson & Wales, 13-9 (8 innings) and 14-8, on Monday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action.  

    GAME ONE: ENDICOTT 13, JWU 9 (8 INN.)

    WP (3-3): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) — 4.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
    LP (2-1): Madi Wong (Newton, Mass.) — 2.0 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

    The Gulls exploded for four runs in the eighth inning, breaking a 9-9 tie to secure the win in international tiebreaker play.

    Mia Mitchell (Medford, Mass.) and Abby McClaflin (Easthampton, Mass.) each delivered clutch doubles to drive in two runs, before Elyse Saccoccio (Coventry, R.I.) put the game out of reach with a two-run bomb, giving the Blue and Green a 13-9 lead, which Grady held intact through the bottom of the eighth.

    Saccoccio led the Gulls with three hits and four RBIs, while McClaflin and Kylyn McLaren (Rochester, N.H.) added two hits apiece. In the fifth inning, McLaren cleared the left-center field fence for the first Endicott home run of the season.

    Ella Tower (Windham, N.H.) also contributed three RBIs to the attack. 

    GAME TWO: ENDICOTT 14, JWU 8 

    WP (1-1): Emma Sheehan (Plainville, Mass.) — 1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
    LP (1-4): Brianna Ghilardi (Halifax, Mass.) — 3.1 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
    SV (2): Grady — 4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

    The Blue and Green came out swinging as Saccoccio launched her second home run of the day, giving the Gulls an early 1-0 lead.

    Trailing by three in the fourth inning, the Gulls erupted for six runs to take an 11-7 advantage and never looked back. McLaren and McClaflin's homers in the fifth and seventh innings sealed the 14-8 victory.

    McLaren led the offense with three hits, while McClaflin and Ava Kelley (Norfolk, Mass.) added two hits apiece, combining for six RBIs (four and two, respectively).

    BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

    • McLaren recorded her first-career homer.
    • Tower tied her career-high with three RBI's.
    • McClaflin and Saccaccio tallied career highs with four RBI.
    • Today's games were the first ever between Johnson & Wales and Endicott.
