Gulls stay unbeaten in TCCC, down WNEC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior guard Jenna Cosgrove (Sharon, Mass./Sharon) came off the bench to score 12 points, including seven in the final 1:51, to lead Endicott College to a 60-50 women's basketball victory over Western New England College Saturday afternoon in a battle of unbeaten The Commonwealth Coast Conference teams.
The Gulls improve their record to 8-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Golden Bears even their record at 7-7 and 2-1 in TCCC.
Junior guard Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, N.H./Central Catholic) and sophomore forward Ceciley Chisholm (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) each added 10 points for the visitors, who rallied from a 26-20 halftime deficit. Chisholm also had a team high seven rebounds.
Endicott also received a big lift from sophomore guard Kaylin Burke (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) who tallied all eight of her points off the bench in the second half. Rachael Bradley (Lynn, Mass./St. Mary's of Lynn) also turned in a solid game, picking up three rebounds, one assist, one steal and three points in 13 minutes.
Western New England College had an 11-point lead (24-13) in the first half before Endicott used a 7-2 run in the final 1:45 to trail by only six (26-20) at intermission.
Endicott used a 13-2 run to take a 41-36 lead when Cosgrove - who also had five rebounds and three assists - drained a three-pointer at the11:48 mark. The Gulls took their biggest lead at 53-40 on Burke free throw with 4:05 remaining and the Golden Bears got no closer than eight down the stretch.
Senior guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, Conn.) was the only WNEC player in double figures with a game-high 19 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists. Freshman guard Lauren Stock (Rocky Hills, Conn.) added nine points while freshman guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, Conn.) chipped-in with seven points and eight rebounds.
Endicott puts its undefeated TCCC record on the line Wednesday evening as the Gulls host Anna Maria College at 8:00 pm in Beverly, Mass.
