BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College women's basketball improved upon its perfect TCCC record, downing the Roger Williams University Hawks, 68-49, on Thursday night in the MacDonald Gymnasium in Beverly, Massachusetts. With the win, Endicott is now 11-7 overall and an undefeated 6-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Roger Williams hung tough in the early stages of the opening half as a Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) lay-up kept the Hawks close at 6-4. The Endicott offense kicked it into gear with six minutes left as Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, N.H./Central Catholic) connected from behind the arc to give the Gulls a 22-14 lead. From there, EC rattled off twelve-straight points to enter halftime with a 34-14 lead. The Blue and Green held the Hawks scoreless for the final 7:22 of the first half.
The second half was much of the same for Endicott as it built a 26 point lead on a driving lay-in by Aubrey Drugan (Salem, N.H./Bishop Guertin). The Hawks would get no closer than 16 in the final frame, eventually falling 68-49.
Roger Williams (8-10 overall, 3-3 TCCC) was led by Casey Anderson's double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Carly Spagnola (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) had eight points and a steal in the loss.
Endicott's Ceciley Chisholm (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) posted a game-high 19 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for the Gulls. Nicole Duchesne finished with 14 points while Jenna Cosgrove (Sharon, Mass./Sharon), Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H./Trinity) and Nicole Young (Rockland, Mass./Cardinal Spellman) each had eight in the win.
