Women’s Basketball Bests Roger Williams In Overtime Thriller, 78-74
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Roger Williams, 78-74 (OT), in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Aleah Bracey (New Bedford, Mass.) paced the Gulls with a team-high 18 points (6-15 FG, 4-10 3PT, 2-2 FT) alongside six rebounds, one assist, and two blocks.
Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) stuffed the stat sheet, yet again, with 14 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3PT, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, nine assists (game-high), one steal, and two rejections.
Tricia Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) also added 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-3 FT), eight boards, two sipes, and one block to the victory, while Sofia Mazzotta (Billerica, Mass.) notched 16 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3 PT, 5-8 FT), four rebounds, and a game-high five steals off the bench.
In overtime (63-63), Bracey broke the ice at the 4:23 mark with a jumper from the block that swished in high off the glass.
Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) followed with a pair of free throws to make it 67-65 (3:04) before Wladkowski converted a perfect pick-and-roll with Mazzotta to jump ahead 69-67.
Both teams stayed deadlocked at that score until about one minute left to go, as Shinney stuffed a game-tying layup attempt and quickly turned defense into offense with a dime on a Bracey three-pointer from the top of the arc on the other end.
From there, the Gulls sealed the victory at the free throw line, scoring their next eight points from the charity stripe. Bracey and Wladkowski led the charge with two makes each during that span.
Overall, Bracey led Endicott with seven points in the extra session.
