No. 10 Nationally Ranked Endicott Holds Off Colby, 4-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 10 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team fended off a late rally from Colby College on Tuesday night to claim a 4-3 victory over the Mules in non-conference action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Leading 4-3 late in the third, the Gulls killed a two-minute tripping penalty that began at 16:31, and also stymied an extra attacker situation from the 18:29 mark on the clock all the way until the end of regulation to push their record to 11-0-1 on the season.

Throughout the 3:29 of action where Colby played with an extra attacker on the ice, Endicott's sophomore goaltender Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) stopped eight shots, the Gulls blocked five other shots, all while the Mules recorded 15 shots total.

Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) was credited with the game-winner with her power play tally 32-seconds in the second period on feeds from Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.) and Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Tonight's game was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
• Jonsson made 36 saves in the win (7-0-1). Jonsson has now registered 30 or more saves in three games this season.
• Jade Meier's (Fairbanks, Alaska) goal 1:53 into the game was her sixth of the season, tying her with Layo and Teneal Perry (Halifax, Nova Scotia) for the team lead.
• Meredith Vlachos (East Bridgewater, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season at 16:56 of the first, while Lexi Klein (Shoreview, Minn.) buried her third tally of the year at 17:36 of the same period.
• Entering tonight's matchup, Endicott ranked tied for first among all Division III programs in penalty kill percentage with Hamilton. The Gulls were 35-for-35 on the penalty kill, while Hamilton was 26-for-26. Endicott is now second behind Hamilton (26-for-26) at 39-for-40 on the season (97.5).

FOR THE FOES

• Mikayla McLaughlin (Glenburn, Maine), Cassidy Holzer (Minneapolis, Minn.), and Delaney Flynn (Scituate, Mass.) all found the back of the net.
• Halley Fine (Minneapolis, Minn.) had 37 saves in the loss (0-4-1). Fine notched 12 saves in the first and second periods, respectively, before she turned away 13 in the third.
