O’Brien, Sullivan Named NEHWA All-Stars

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's ice hockey student-athletes Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) and Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) have been named to the 2021-22 New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) Division II-III All-Star Team.

O'Brien and Sullivan are both first-time honorees. Overall, the program has produced seven award winners since being elevated to NCAA Division III varsity status in 2015-16.

The duo is joined on the list by two-time honoree Jade Meier '20 (Fairbanks, Alaska), Alyssa Peterson '20 (Cranberry Township, Pa.), Vendela Jonsson '19 M'20 (Linkoping, Sweden), and Jillian Gibbs '20 M'22 (Burlington, Vt.).

In 15 games played on the season, O'Brien compiled a 10-4-1 record, a 1.51 goals against average (GAA), and a .940 save percentage in 911:34 of action between the pipes. O'Brien posted 20 or more saves in nine games on the season and had a program record 56 saves in a 4-3 win over No. 1 nationally ranked Plattsburgh on November 27, 2021.

O'Brien earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Goaltender of the Year and All-CCC First Team accolades behind those aforementioned numbers.

Among her conference peers, O'Brien ranked in the top-10 in the following categories: minutes (6th), goals against (2nd, 23), GAA (2nd), saves (6th, 362), save percentage (4th), wins (2nd), and winning percentage (2nd, .700).

O'Brien also finished the year ranked in the top-25 nationally in winning percentage (15th), GAA (12th), save percentage (14th), and shutouts (21st, 4).

Sullivan registered 16 goals and seven assists for 23 points in 25 games played. Sullivan finished the year with a +22 plus-minus rating, four power play tallies, three-game winning goals, and one hat trick (11/16/21 vs. Salve Regina).

She also notched two or more goals in four games and two or more points in five contests.

For her efforts, Sullivan claimed All-CCC First Team honors and CCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades.

In the CCC, Sullivan ranked in the top-10 in the following categories: points (7th), goals (3rd), plus-minus (1st), power play goals (6th), game-winning goals (3rd), and shots (5th 102).

Nationally, Sullivan was positioned in the top-50 in faceoff wins (50th, 219, .563), goals per game (29th, 0.64), and power play goals (39th).

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott captured the inaugural CCC Championship with a 2-1 win over the University of New England (UNE) on March 5.

The Gulls fell to eventual undefeated NCAA Division III Champion and No. 1 nationally ranked Middlebury, 4-0, on March 12 in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.

Endicott concluded the 2022 season with a 19-5-1 overall record, a 15-2-1 mark in CCC play, and a No. 9 national ranking.
