Gulls Face Tough Competition in Bermuda

Beverly, MA - The Gulls left for Bermuda Saturday the 13th with a 1-0 record after coming away with their first victory of the season against MIT. Their Bermuda schedule pitted them against non-conference challengers Connecticut College of NESCAC, and Wheaton College who has found their way to the NCAA tournament twice in the last two years. Endicott lost both matches, but returned to Massachusetts prepared for success in the remainder of their season.
The Gulls lost 16-5 to the Connecticut College Camels. Against Wheaton, although the final score was 22-7, the Gulls played an outstanding second half scoring four goals of their own and holding the Lions to just seven goals. Cathy Sharp (So/Rutland, VT) and captain Katie White (Sr/Ridgefield, CT) combined for four goals and two assists. Christine Wilmott (Jr/Barre, VT) had two goals of her own, and Heather Hatfield (So/Tyngsboro, MA) added one in second half play.
Gulls defenders came up big as well, causing eleven turnovers. Junior Jo Imse (Bow, NH) led the way with three, including an interception, while Lyz Tomsuden (So/Rutland, VT), Erica Harrington (Jr/Underhill, VT), and Lauren Gibbons (So/Shaker Heights, OH) contributed two apiece.
The Gulls play their home opener and first conference match of the season Thursday at 7:00pm against Roger Williams.
