BEVERLY, Mass. -- Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Champion Endicott has had three of its players selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Pilgrim Region.
Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) earned her third consecutive All-Region selection and her first nod to the First Team, while Kelsey Barnes (Mendham, N.J.) and Kelly Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.) each earned their first All-Region honors as members of the Second Team.
Davis, the CCC Player of the Year, led the Gulls with 65 goals, second most in the conference, and added 19 assists for 84 points, tied for fourth in the CCC. Her 81 draw controls are fifth in the conference. Davis has moved to second on the all-time goals list, with 209, and third on the all-time points (256) list, and is the Endicott career leader in draw controls, with over 150 more than the next closest Endicott student-athlete. She has scored the game-winner in two of Endicott's victories this year and had a ten-point game with eight goals in a CCC victory over University of New England on April 16th.
Barnes has helped lead a top ranked defense that only allowed 55 goals in conference play for a 6.88 goals allowed average. The Endicott defense also caused 179 turnovers, with Barnes causing 24 of them, good for second on the squad. She collected 39 ground balls and won six draw controls during her junior campaign, and was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to garnering her third All-Conference selection and her first All-CCC First Team nod.
Tierney has scored a team-high 96 points this year on 46 goals and 50 assists, placing her second in the CCC in helpers. She won 23 ground balls and also grabbed 12 draw controls while earning her second straight All-Conference selection and her first First Team nod in her Senior season.
The Gulls (12-7) won their eighth consecutive CCC title on Saturday by beating Western New England 17-15 on Saturday. Endicott will play their second straight team from Springfield when they host the Springfield College Pride on Wednesday in their NCAA Tournament First Round Game at 5:00 pm at Endicott Stadium.
The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2013. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 9. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on May 25, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
