BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott club women's rugby team continued to dominate its competition last Saturday with a 93-0 postseason victory over Eastern Connecticut State in their first round playoff matchup at Hempstead Stadium.
Prior to kick off, the Gulls made sure to acknowledge and celebrate the stellar careers of four senior student-athletes: Melissa Almeida (Foxborough, Mass.), Sophia Hatzis (West Roxbury, Mass), Lauren Hervieux (Lincoln, R.I.), and Diana Sutherland (Woonsocket, R.I.). Each senior dedicated themselves to the Endicott Rugby program, and has accomplished numerous accolades over the last four years (including their 13th overall finish at the NSCRO 7's National Championships last season).
Following the brief ceremony, in a similar fashion that they have all season, the Gulls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Points came in all forms for Endicott, tallying a grand total of nine student-athletes contributing to the final score:
Amanda Poulin (Turner, Maine), So. - 3 tries & 3 conversions
Kelsey Joyce (Wharton, N.J.), Fr. - 2 tries & 4 conversions
