SEEKONK, Mass. – Last Sunday, Endicott women's club rugby student-athletes Nicole McCardle (Castleton, Vt.) and Amanda Poulin (Turner, Maine) competed in the Cianci 7s Memorial Collegiate Tournament representing the Gulls as members of the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference's (CCRC) All-Stars Team. Last weekend's tournament also served as a tryout for members of the CCRC All-Stars Team to compete in a 7s national tournament next year (January) in Florida. The final 12 student-athletes who will represent the CCRC All-Stars Team in Florida will be announced this Sunday (Nov. 25).
As for the Cianci 7s Memorial Collegiate Tournament, the CCRC All-Stars team earned wins against Ithaca, Boston University's B-Side, and Hofstra, but fell to Stony Brook to finish in third place in the tournament.
McCardle scored two tries during the day, while Poulin had one to help the CCRC All-Stars Team finish third overall.
"It was a great experience, getting to meet and play with girls that we are normally playing against," said Poulin. "It took a few minutes at first to get used to the different playing styles, but I thought that we came together as a team quickly and nicely given the circumstances. I was so happy to get back on the field and it made me even more ready for our season this spring!
