Gulls and Vikes All Tied Up
Sept. 28, 2005
BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott Women's soccer team battled Salem State College to a 0-0 draw Wednesday night in a non-conference match.
The Vikings (3-2-3) beat the Gulls (5-2-1) in 2004, 2-1, but could not solve junior goalkeeper Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park, NY/F.D. Roosevelt). Loguidice made five saves in all, including one on SSC's Cerissa Grasso (Lynnfield) in extra time.
The best scoring chance of the game came 18:46 into the first half when Endicott's Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) blasted a shot at goalkeeper Christine Madden (Weymouth, MA). Madden fully extended to make an outstanding diving save.
Madden robbed D'Amario 5:19 into the second half with another diving stop. With only 25 seconds remaining in regulation Staci Wiencko (Pembroke, MA/Notre Dame Academy) fired a shot from 25 yards out on a free kick only to see Madden leap into the air to make the save.
Endicott has still not allowed a goal at home this year. The Gulls travel to Anna Maria College Saturday.
