BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott’s \#Caitlin Flynn\# (Southold, N.Y.) notched a first half tally and teammate \#Colleen Pepin\# (Fairhaven, Mass.) buried a late insurance goal as the Gulls defeated Eastern Nazarene, 2-0, in TCCC women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The win improves the Blue and Green to 10-4 overall and 8-1 in Conference play, while the Lions slip to 5-10 and 3-6 in the TCCC.
Flynn got the Gulls on the board in the 16th minute as she took a feed at the top of the box from the left side by \#Colleen Pepin\#, and beat Eastern Nazarene goalkeeper Britney Hislop (Burley, Wash.) for the early 1-0 advantage. The goal was the only marker of the first half, as the Gulls outshot the Lions 8-2 but only found the back of the net once in the opening frame.
The Gulls continued to hold the majority of play deep in the ENC terrority in the second stanza. Hislop kept it a one-goal game 14 minutes into the half as she stonewalled a 1-on-1 bid by \#Colleen Pepin\# with a diving save to her left.
Pepin, however, would get the final laugh as she broke through with the insurance tally in the 86th minute. The sophomore forward took a nice through ball from \#Kayla Corbett\# (Danvers, Mass.) and potted a shot into the top-right corner to cement the 2-0 win.
The Gulls outshot the Lions at a 23-5 clip and held a dominating 11-0 advantage in corner opportunities. Eastern Nazarene goalkeeper Britney Hislop made nine saves in the losing effort, while reigning TCCC Defensive Player of the Week \#Amy Meuse\# (Saugus, Mass.) turned away two shots to push her shutout streak to 313:24.
Endicott returns to action on Saturday when the Gulls travel to Milton, Mass. for a 7:30 p.m. match-up with Curry College. ENC looks to rebound on the same day when the Lions host Gordon College at 12:00 p.m.
