Endicott sinks Pilgrims, 3-0

HENNIKER, N.H. – Endicott College extended its shutout streak 630:00 minutes as the Gulls sunk New England College, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Henniker, N.H. With the win the Gulls remain tied for first in the conference improving to 10-1-0 in league play and 12-4-0 overall. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 6-8-2 on the season and 4-6-1 in the conference.
NEC contained the Endicott offense for much of the opening half as keeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) turned away the first five shots she saw. The Gulls broke the scoring drought in the 37th minute as \#Vanessa Caruccio\# (Winthrop, Mass.) scored off a cross from \#Colleen Pepin\# (Fairhaven, Mass.), giving Endicott the 1-0 halftime lead.
Endicott extended its advantage to 2-0 at the 71:07 mark as \#Kayla Plante\# (Sanford, Maine) put home the rebound of her own shot off the post, netting her fourth goal of the season.
The Gulls tacked on another goal with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation as \#Kayla Corbett\# (Danvers, Mass.) put in a pass from Pepin. Endicott would have another scoring opportunity late in the game on a Gull penalty kick but Hughes came up with the save.
The Gulls finished the game outshooting the Pilgrims 32-3 and held the 6-0 advantage in corners.
Picking up the shutout win in net for Endicott was \#Amy Meuse\# (Saugus, Mass.), who recorded one save on the afternoon. Hughes finished the afternoon with 12 saves for NEC.
The Pilgrims return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they travel to take on conference opponent Gordon College at 1:00 p.m. The Gulls will host conference opponent Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
