BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's soccer junior forward Lily Miller (Warwick, R.I.) netted her first career goal in the 23rd minute to lift the Gulls over Suffolk, 1-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday evening at Hempstead Stadium.
Miller struck from long range, just outside the 18, with a booming strike that ricocheted off Suffolk goalkeeper Arden Rose's (Fremont, Calif.) fingertips and into the netting for the early 1-0 lead.
The junior forward's first half of the play to gain possession was equally as impressive.
Following a long clearance from her backline, Miller raced down the pitch, splitting two defenders well outside of the penalty area, before she won a 50/50 ball away from the Rams' right back.
Miller then one-touched the ball to her right and promptly rocketed her only shot of the game into the back of the net.
Amanda Cosgrove (Newton, Mass.) needed just one save in the second half to preserve the shutout (two total saves, 3-4-1 overall, third career shutout).
