Freshman Kate Cioffi wins TCCC Rookie of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College freshman Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) was honored as TCCC Rookie of the Week this week as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Monday. The honor marks the third time Cioffi was named Rookie of the Week in her short career. Cioffi was able to lead the Gulls (9-0, 6-0 TCCC) to another perfect week this week as the Gulls were able to go 2-0 including a conference victory against rival Gordon College.
The freshman did not lose a match this week as she won in \#1 singles twice and teamed with Alyson Boehm (Lowell, Mass.) to go unbeaten in \#2 doubles as well. Cioffi was able to beat Gordon's Kate Kirby (Orono, Maine) 1-6, 6-3, 10-2 earlier in the week and then beat Rhode Island College's Meg Funk (Oakdale, Conn.) in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Cioffi and Boehm then teamed up to defeat their doubles opponents by a combined score of 16-5 over the two meets during the week.
Cioffi and the rest of the Endicott College Gulls look to stay perfect when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday for a TCCC match-up with Wentworth at 3:30 p.m.
