Endicott Makes Quick Work Of Salve Regina, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to four straight matches and its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular season unbeaten streak to 13 consecutive matches with a 9-0 sweep of Salve Regina University on Tuesday afternoon.

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four straight matches and its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular season unbeaten streak to 13 consecutive matches with a 9-0 sweep of Salve Regina University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gulls, who only dropped three games in doubles play, saw freshmen Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) and Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) breeze to an 8-0 victory at No. 3 to get the conference matchup against the Seahawks underway.

Newly minted CCC Player of the Week Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) and teammate Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) posted an 8-1 decision at No. 1, while freshmen Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) and Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 triumph at No. 2.

In singles action, Barnett made quick work of Salve Regina's Kasey Walther (Natick, Mass.) at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Bergstein quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 over Julie Grant (Warwick, R.I.) to lock up the match.

"That was probably the cleanest match we've played to date," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "We still have things we need to improve upon and will look to do that in our next couple of matches this week."
