Jamie Zompa, Jeremy Howard Headline CCC Yearly Awards For Women’s Tennis
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) and fifth-year head coach Jeremy Howard headlined a group of seven student-athletes who were recognized on the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women’s Tennis All-Conference teams today by earning Senior Scholar-Athlete and Coach of the Year awards, respectively.
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) and fifth-year head coach Jeremy Howard headlined a group of seven student-athletes who were recognized on the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Tennis All-Conference teams today by earning Co-Senior Scholar-Athlete and Coach of the Year awards, respectively.
Zompa, who shares the award with Western New England's Joeanna Glantz, holds a 3.96 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as an accounting major, and is now the first women's tennis player to earn CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in program history. Over her career, Zompa has claimed three Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete awards, and also been named to the CCC Academic All-Conference team twice.
Meanwhile, Howard is now a three-time CCC Coach of the Year honoree since his arrival in Beverly during the 2012-13 season. Throughout his five seasons at the helm of the program Howard has compiled a 72-21 record (.774), guided the Gulls to four-straight CCC titles, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament three times.
ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM SINGLES
Hayley Barnett | Marlboro, N.J.
Barnett posted a 7-6 singles record on the season, which included a 5-2 mark in CCC play, all at the No. 1 position.
ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM SINGLES
Lauren Rahr | Waterford, Conn.
Rahr went 8-3 overall in singles this fall notching wins at No. 2 (4-0), No. 3 (2-2), and No. 4 (2-1) singles, and a 5-2 record in conference play.
ALL-CCC THIRD TEAM SINGLES
Margot Andreasen | Portland, Maine
Andreasen had a 5-3 record overall, and also produced a 3-1 mark in CCC action for the Gulls.
Gillian Freter | Scituate, Mass.
Freter currently leads the team in wins with a 10-1 record, including undefeated records in CCC play (7-0), the No. 3 (4-0), No. 4 (2-0), and No. 5 (4-0) positions.
ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM DOUBLES
Maxine Bergstein | Hingham, Mass. & Mackenzie Rhodes | Rye, N.H.
Bergstein and Rhodes combined for a 7-4 mark overall, and a 6-1 league record that featured a 6-2 mark at No. 1.
ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM DOUBLES
Andreasen & Barnett
Andreasen and Barnett are 6-3 so far this season with a 5-2 league mark and a 5-1 record at the No. 2 position.
