BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Endicott women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Babson College on Friday night at the Babson Tennis Courts.

Endicott took a 2-1 advantage into singles play after Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) and Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) posted an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles and Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) notched an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
Meanwhile, in singles action, Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) pushed Endicott ahead in the match, 3-2, with a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 6. The Gulls then closed out the victory with back-to-back wins at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3) and No. 2 (7-6 (11-9), 3-6, 10-6) via Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) and Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.).

"I'm really happy with our effort tonight," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "Anytime you win a match 5-4 it's going to come down to a few points and we came out on the winning side. We now have a quick turn around with Western New England tomorrow for Senior Day."

  • Last season, Babson finished No. 35 in the country and No. 12 in the Northeast.

Endicott (3-0) hosts Western New England tomorrow on Senior Day at 1 PM. Babson (0-1) takes part in the Wallace Invitational next Saturday, September 22.
