BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women’s tennis team defeated Wheaton (Mass.) in its season finale, 5-2, on Thursday evening at the South Campus Courts.

In doubles flights, No. 1 Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) produced a 6-1 victory, while No. 2 Caroline Sutliffe (Duxbury, Mass.) / Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win.
From there, Guster generated a quick 6-1, 6-3 victory as the Gulls' top singles player, before the Lyons took two singles matches to knot the contest at 2-2.
Meanwhile, No. 3 Martinelli manufactured a clutch 4-7, 6-0, 6-0 victory, while No. 6 Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) clinched the matchup 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
No. 2 Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.) concluded the match with a gritty 7(7)-6(3), 4-6, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 to take the season finale.
BEYOND THE BOX
- The Blue and Green ended the 2024-25 campaign 5-2 at The Nest.
- Sutliffe is the only student-athlete on the squad who had double-digit singles wins (11).
- Both pairings of Martinelli / Sutliffe and Uyeda / Guster registered six victories as doubles partners.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott's season comes to a close with a 9-11 record overall. The Gulls fell to Nichols in the CNE Championship on October 19, 4-0. Wheaton (Mass.) (6-10) takes on Smith on Saturday, April 26 at 12:00 PM.
