Women’s Tennis Blanks Suffolk In CNE Opener, 7-0
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Suffolk University, 7-0, in the Conference of New England (CNE) season opener for both programs on Tuesday evening at the South Campus Tennis Courts.
Endicott earned the doubles point behind dominant performances at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights.
The No. 2 freshmen pairing of Nadia Uzelac (Waltham, Mass.) and Jillian Friedman (Austin, Texas) cruised to a 6-0 victory, while Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.) and Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) quickly followed with a 6-1 decision at No. 1.
Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Julia Rockler (Lidingo, Sweden) completed the doubles sweep at No. 3 with a hard-fought 6-4 triumph.
Friedman and Uzelac continued their strong play in singles as the duo posted decisive wins at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 (6-0, 6-1).
Leclerc and Fleming also joined the pair in the double winners club at No. 1 (6-3, 6-3) and No. 6 (6-2, 6-1), respectively.
Milana Montini (Southbury, Conn.) and Amber Woods (Scarborough, Maine) rounded out singles play with victories at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0) and No. 5 (7-5, 6-0).
