PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Endicott women's track and field team placed third overall at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Sunday evening at Portsmouth High School, hosted by Roger Williams University.
The Hawks captured their third consecutive CCC title, and seventh overall, with 147.50 points. Meanwhile, Gordon (131.50), Endicott (130), Suffolk (94), Salve Regina (45), University of New England (34), Nichols (1), and Wentworth (1) followed in respective order.
Endicott's third place finish is the highest ranking in the four-year history of the program. The Gulls' score of 130 points, which resulted largely from a school record 13 All-Conference performances, also marks a 52-point improvement from their 2019 CCC Championship effort.
As for Endicott on the individual side, Jordan Williams (Boxford, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls with first place finishes in the 100-meter dash (12.47, meet record, school record), 200-meter dash (26.63, meet record, school record), and 4x100-meter relay (51.19, school record) alongside teammates Hevyn Pray (Rehoboth, Mass.), Nicole D'Angelo (Readfield, Maine), and Gates MacPherson (Thorold, Ontario).
Student-athletes who place first (gold medalist), second (silver medalist), or third (bronze medalist) in an event earn All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Third Team honors.
Additionally, the eight CCC head coaches will vote on major postseason awards next week. Following the voting period, the conference will recognize a Runner of the Year, Rookie Runner of the Year, Field Performer of the Year, Field Rookie of the Year, and a CCC Scholar-Athlete. Coaches will also be voting on winners for Coach of the Year and Team Sportsmanship.
TOP QUOTE
"I first want to thank the senior class for everything they have done to build this program. The last four years have been nothing short of special because of the leadership this group has shown and the chances they have taken to set the standard for the team," said Endicott women's track and field head coach Spencer Lange. "While we ended up third on the day, everyone played their part and stepped up. There were countless PR's, meet records, and season-best marks/times, and it was a great day to see things come together. It was a battle from the first event all the way to the last one, and that's what it's all about. The competition brought the best out in everyone and they had so much fun in the process. This team has proven so much and has such a bright future ahead. I cannot wait for what's next."
