BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's track and field program and head coach Spencer Lange were both honored with Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason major awards earlier today.
The Gulls received the league's Team Sportsmanship Award for the third straight season (2018-19, 2021), while Lange was named the CCC Co-Coach of the Year for the second time in his career (2019, 2021).
Endicott is the only program in CCC Women's Track and Field history to earn the Team Sportsmanship Award, which comes with great pride as winning the award is a point of emphasis in the program.
"I am proud of this team for not only how they handled the challenging year, but also how they approach each day," said Lange. "Their presence is felt through their enthusiasm for each other at practice and competition. To see them cheering each other on, congratulating competitors, thanking officials, bus drivers, and being there for each other after a race is what it's all about."
Meanwhile, Lange earned CCC Co-Coach of the Year honors after leading the Gulls to a third place finish at the CCC Championship on May 2, its highest ranking in the four-year history of the program.
Endicott's score of 130 points, which resulted largely from a school record 13 All-Conference performances, marked a 52-point improvement from their 2019 CCC Championship effort.
Voting for this year's postseason awards was conducted by the eight CCC women's track and field head coaches in the weeks following the CCC Championship. Meanwhile, the announcement of the league's All-Conference honorees is made at the CCC Championship meet, which, again, occurred on May 2.
