Women’s Track & Field Shines At Early Bird Invite
BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's track and field team competed at the Early Bird Invite on Saturday evening, hosted at the TRACK at new balance.
Tiana Brown (Nashua, N.H.) and Abby Griffith (Franklin, Mass.) headlined the Gulls in their season opening meet.
Brown posted a pair of top-10 finishes, two D3 New England Championship provisional qualifying times, and broke one school record.
In the 60-meter dash prelims, Brown crossed the finish line in 8.05 seconds, breaking Jordan Williams' (Boxford, Mass.) near five-year-old school record of 8.13, set on February 22, 2020, at the Bowdoin Invitational.
Brown coincidentally followed her prelims performance with a time of 8.13 in the finals, ranking sixth overall out of 55 sprinters. The freshman bested a loaded field, which included double-digit NCAA Division I and II runners.
Brown also ranked eighth overall in the 60-meter hurdles (9.61 finals; 9.59 prelims).
Meanwhile, Griffith registered three top-10 finishes, one D3 New England Championship provisional qualifying mark, and one school record.
The sophomore shattered the triple jump school record by nearly two feet with a first place mark of 35 feet and 5.25 inches.
Griffith bested Kinneal Dickens' (Merrimac, Mass.) leap of 33 feet and 11.50 inches, set on February 10, 2024, again, at the Bowdoin Invitational.
Griffith also ranked third in the high jump (4-11) and eighth in the long jump (15-11.75).
The New England D3 Championships have moved to a provisional and auto qualifying system for the 2025-26 season. Fields will be filled to 24 athletes per individual event, except 14 in multi-events.
The D3 New England Championship provisional and auto qualifying times/marks in each event are as follows: 60m dash (8.30, 7.90); 60m hurdles (10.00, 9.40); triple jump (10.40m, 10.90m).
