Gifford, McAvoy, Kennedy Sweep CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following a 2-0 week that saw the Gulls claim two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victories, Endicott swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards. Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) was named Player of the Week, Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) earned Rookie of the Week, and Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) was tabbed as Libero of the Week.

Gifford led Endicott to a 2-0 week, with both wins coming over CCC foes as Endicott locked up the No. 1 seed in the CCC Tournament. In the team's 3-0 sweep of Wentworth, Gifford finished with 38 assists, 13 digs, and two assist blocks as the Gulls handed the Leopards their first loss in CCC play. Endicott then finished the week with a 3-0 sweep of Curry in which Gifford totaled 32 assists, 14 digs, and two assist blocks. For the week, Gifford averaged 11.67 assists/set and 4.5 digs/set as she eclipsed the 1,000 assist plateau for the season. The junior now ranks 10th in the nation in total assists and 14th in assists/set.

McAvoy hit .550 for the week and averaged 2.40 kills/set and 1.20 blocks/set on the week as she helped the Gulls to a 2-0 week. In the team's 3-0 sweep of Wentworth, McAvoy totaled eight kills on 13 error-free swings to hit .615 to go with three blocks and three digs. She finished the week with four kills and three blocks in just two sets in the 3-0 sweep of Curry and now leads all CCC players with a .426 average in CCC play.

In the sweep of Wentworth who was undefeated in CCC play coming into the match, Kennedy posted 19 digs in the three sets for a 6.33 digs/set average. Her 4.82 digs/set for the season are currently the highest mark among all players.

The Gulls will host either Roger Williams or Gordon on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 PM for the CCC Semifinals.
