Nov. 17, 2004
The women's cross-country season came to an end at the NCAA New England Regional Meet at Twin Brooks Recreation Area in Cumberland, Maine on Saturday. The women's squad posted some great individual performances despite the wind and bitter cold. Junior Captain Erica Spencer ran a great race for the Gulls. She led the way finishing the hilly 6 kilometer course with a time of 26:24 (167 out of 268). Close behind was sophomore Katie Fitch who also broke 27 minutes crossing the line with a time of 26:53 (185th).
The 3 through 7 runners ran in a tight pack finishing in less than a minute of each other. Junior Jen Abramovitz finished with a time of 27:35, followed by sophomore Kathleen Lascelles just 10 seconds later. Junior captain Andrea Mokray was the next Gull finisher posting a time of 28:01. Two seconds behind Andrea was Julianna Osburn who ran a gutsy race with an injured knee. Sophomore Angelique Baillargeon who has shown a dramatic improvement this season ran the best race of her collegiate career as she crossed the line with a time of 28:18 (7:36 per mile pace).
