Men's and women's teams sweep TCCC weekly awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Endicott College men's and women's teams were able to win all of the weekly awards this week in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. Freshman Greg Payne (North Attleboro, Mass.) was able to win Runner and Rookie of the Week for the men while Nicole Prokop (Montgomery, Mass.) was able to win Runner of the Week and Brittaney Plante (Nashua, N.H.) won Rookie of the Week as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Monday.
Freshman Greg Payne won both awards for the third time this season out of four weeks. Payne finished as the top runner for the Gulls as he posted a time of 27:26 in the five-mile race. His time was good enough for 111th out of the 278 runners at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.
For the second week in a row, Nicole Prokop was able to earn the TCCC Runner of the week award. Prokop ran a 5k time of 20:06 which gave her a 99th place finish out of the 310 runner field. Brittaney Plante finished in 141st in the field with a time of 20:59 in earning her first conference award of her young career.
The Blue and Green continue their action when both teams travel to Middletown, Connecticut for the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday. The men will start at 11:00 a.m. while the women hit the trails at 12:00 p.m.
