    Runners blaze the trail at Endicott's new trail

    Beverly, Mass. – The Endicott men’s and women’s cross country teams hosted a meet on the Beverly campus for the first time in program history and competed against Salem State University and Colby-Sawyer College. Gulls runners on both teams finished at the top of the results as they geared up for the Roger Williams Invitational this Saturday.
    The women’s 5k race saw three Endicott runners finished 1-2-3 as \#Jillian Mendes\# (Waterbury Center, Vt.), \#Kira DiCaprio\# (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), and \#Holly Davis\# (Guilford, Conn.) crossed the finish line before any opposing runners. The high finish for Mendes (20:57) and DiCaprio (21:36), both freshmen on the squad, foreshadows what should be a successful season for the Blue and Green.  Davis had a time of 22:05.
    Also clocking in the top ten was \#Brittaney Plante\# (Nashua, N.H.), a junior who placed ninth at 23:39. Rounding out the top five for the Gulls was junior \#Deanna Slobin\# (Old Saybrook, Conn.) who came in 15th place out of 30 total runners with a time of 25:03. \#Kelly Cameron\# (Barrington, R.I.) finished just behind Slobin in 16th place at 25:42.
    Sophomore \#Jennifer Dickerson\# (Windham, N.H.) provided some excited on the final loop of the race by passing three competitors en route to a 19th place finish with a time of 26:01.
    On the men’s side, junior co-captain \#Greg Payne\# (North Attleboro, Mass.) raced through the 8k course and finished just a second behind the number one runner from Salem State, clocking in at 28:13. 
    \#Alex Dinola\# (Westford, Mass.) and \#Alan Daniels\# (Mexico) ran strong for the Gulls and finished in good standing as well with times of 36:15 and 38:14, respectively.
    The trail, which winded through the Endicott campus starting at the practice field before making loops past the Bayview and Stoneridge dormitories, proved to be a challenging course for the participants.
    The Blue and Green now look forward to the Roger Williams Invitation on Saturday, September 11th starting at 12 pm.
