Cross country competes at New England Championships

Boston, Mass. – On Saturday, the Endicott cross country teams competed against some of the top teams in the region at the New England Championships in Franklin Park. The women were paced by \#Kira DiCaprio\#’s (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) 250th place finish in a field of 322 runners. The men’s team was led by \#Greg Payne\# (North Attleboro, Mass.), who finished 250th in a field of 318 runners.
The New England Championships featured 47 teams from around the region, including Boston College, Boston University, the University of Maine, the University of Connecticut, and more.
Sophomore \#Kim Shepherd\# (Essex, Conn.), trailed DiCaprio by just 36 seconds, finished second among Endicott runners and 270th overall.
Freshman \#Jillian Mendes\# (Waterbury Center, Vt.) was third among EC runners and 281st overall with a time of 22:13.
\#Brittany Plante\# (Nashua, N.H.) was 283rd overall with a time of 22:17. \#Jennifer Dickerson\# (Windham, N.H.) rounded out the Gulls’ top-five with a time of 24:45 (314th overall).
The women finished 45th in team standings with a score of 1398.
Payne’s 5:37 pace placed him ahead of 68 other runners. The only other member of the men’s team to run was junior \#Tom Rofrano\# (Sayville, N.Y.). Rofrano finished 316th with a time of 33:10.
Both teams will compete in the Western New England College Invitational on Saturday in Springfield, Mass.
