Payne, Davis pace cross country

Bristol, R.I. – The Endicott cross country teams competed at the The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Invitational on Saturday at Colt State Park. The women’s team, led by \#Holly Davis\# (Guilford, Conn.) , finished fourth in team standings while \#Greg Payne\#’s (North Attleboro, Mass.) seventh place finish paced the men.
Payne completed the 8k race in 27:43.58, 43 seconds off the lead. The junior outran 78 others from throughout the conference and boasted a 5:34.7 pace. The finish was an improvement from last year’s eighth place showing in 27:55.
Five women finished in the top-30 to help the Gulls finish in fourth place with 52 points. Host Roger Williams finished first with 25 points.
Davis was Endicott’s top finisher for the third straight meet. The sophomore completed the 5k race in 25:21.6, good for 13th place individually.
\#Jillian Mendes\# (Waterbury Center, Vt.) finished one second, and one place, behind Davis. The freshman finished in the top-15 for the second consecutive time and third time this season.
Classmate \#Kira DiCaprio\# (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished in 20th place with a time of 25:43.86. The freshman ran at a 6:54.1 pace for her third top-20 finish of the season.
\#Brittany Plante\# (Nashua, N.H.) was fourth among Endicott runners and 22nd individually with a time of 25:45.89.
Sophomore \#Kim Shepherd\# (Essex, Conn.) completed the course in 26:04.31, good for 29th place individually.
Both teams will compete next weekend at the ECAC Championship in Bristol.
