Endicott competes at NCAA Regionals

Williamstown, Mass. - Fifty-one women’s teams converged at Mt. Greylock High School Saturday to compete in the NCAA New England Regional Championship, hosted by Williams College. Sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures in the 60s made for ideal racing conditions on the 6k course, which featured rolling hills, wooded trails, and grass field. With over 300 competitors, the field was tightly packed for much of the race but thinned by the final straight-away, with several seconds between each of the top seven finishers. 

The Endicott College women’s team finished with 964 points, good for 31^st place.   The Gulls were 16 points ahead of Eastern Connecticut and trailed 30^th-place Rhode Island College by 46 points. 

Brittaney Plante (Nashua, N.H.) was the team’s top finisher, crossing the line in 25:58.1. The sophomore runner paced the Gulls for the first time this season with a 156^th place finish.

Freshman Kira DiCaprio (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished second on the team and 161^st overall with a time of 26:04.6. 

Sophomore Kim Shepherd (Essex, Conn.) was Endicott’s third finisher with a time of 26:07.0. Shepherd finished 167^th overall.

Freshman Jillian Mendes (Waterbury Center, Vt.) finished 211^th overall and fourth among EC runners with a time of 26:53.5.

Sophomore Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) rounded out the Gulls’ top-five with a 273^rd place showing (28:41.9). 

Williams College sophomore Jennifer Gossels was the individual winner with a time of 21:42.7.

Greg Payne (North Attleboro, Mass.) was the men’s team’s only competitor. The junior runner finished 149^th overall.
