Women’s Cross Country Places Ninth At Regionals; Alexa Suchy Caps Record-Breaking Season For Gulls
CONTOOCOOK, N.H. – The Endicott women's cross country team placed ninth overall out of 30 teams at the NCAA Division III East Regionals on Saturday evening, hosted at the Hopkinton State Fair Grounds.
Tufts (51) edged MIT (61) for top honors in the meet, while Brandeis (116), Suffolk (153), Bowdoin (158), Bates (164), Wellesley (168), Colby (225), Endicott (358), and Plymouth State (372) followed to round out the top-10.
Individually, Alexa Suchy (Guilford, Conn.) highlighted the Gulls as the junior became the first student-athlete in program history to earn USTFCCCA All-East Region honors.
Suchy ranked 31st overall (program best finish) on the 6-kilometer course with a school record time of 22:35.
Following Suchy in the top-5 were Hannah Shepard (Keene, N.H.), Corinne Robert (Mattapoisett, Mass.), Rebecca Zuniga (New Braunfels, Texas), and Teagan Shaughnessy (Watertown, Mass.).
The quartet placed 45th (23:09), 91st (24:36), 95th (24:46), and 96th (24:47), respectively.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Endicott's top-5 average was 23:59 (2:12 differential).
- The Gulls tied their best-ever finish at NCAA D3 East Regionals since the 10-region realignment occurred in 2021 (ranked ninth in 2023).
- USTFCCCA All-Region is awarded to the top-35 finishes at all 10 regional sites.
- Suchy splits included the following times: 2k (7:25), 4k (15:01), 6k (22:35), pace (6:04).
- Earlier this season, Suchy claimed Conference of New England (CNE) Second Team accolades for the first time in her career.
- Lulu Steele (Bedford, Mass.) ran a personal best time of 24:50 (101st overall).
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott won the "Battle of the North Shore" for the seventh straight season and posted program-best tying results at the CNE Championship (2nd) and NCAA D3 East Regionals (9th). The Gulls also produced the best top-5 average in program history for a 6k race at the CNE Championship (23:37).
