BOSTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to No. 13 Wentworth (3-2) and No. 12 New Paltz (3-0) on Saturday afternoon at Tansey Gymnasium.
NO. 13 WENTWORTH 3, ENDICOTT 2 (21-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-18, 7-15)
Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) paced the Gulls' offense with 12 kills.
Ethan Norris (Hollis, N.H.) also contributed nine kills (.304) and 10 digs, while Aaron Bennett (Haverhill, Mass.) and Thomas Matchett (North Smithfield, R.I.) produced eight and seven kills, respectively.
Matty Tiernan (Bradford, R.I.) facilitated the majority of the offense with a match-high 28 assists.
Defensively, Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) tied for the match-high in digs (13) and Jackson Gray (Glenmont, N.Y.) registered a career-high/match-high seven block assists alongside six kills (.333).
The match featured 26 ties (9-4-6-6-1) and nine lead changes (4-1-2-2-0).
NO. 12 NEW PALTZ 3, ENDICOTT 0 (20-25, 21-25, 23-25)
In the second leg of the doubleheader, the Gulls could not break through against the 12th ranked team in the nation. The Hawks hit a whopping .432 as a unit in the matchup to capture the 3-0 sweep.
Iacovelli led the Blue and Green's offense once again with 10 kills (.259), while Gray added nine (.400).
Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) also posted seven kills in the setback.
Tiernan and Norris split duties running the offense with 18 and 13 assists, respectively.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- The Gulls lead Wentworth 24-16 in the all-time series.
- Today was just the third meeting between Endicott and New Paltz since 2014.
- Defensively, Battista notched a team-high 12 digs across the two matches.
- Brady Hoose (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made his collegiate debut in the Wentworth match.
