Men's Volleyball Tops Rivier, 3-1
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team defeated Rivier University, 3-1, by scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-13, and 25-15 in Tuesday evening's non-conference matchup from inside MacDonald Gymnasium.
After dropping the first set, the Gulls rebounded and took the next three sets convincingly.
Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) led the way with 21 kills while hitting a blistering .459 from the floor. He also picked up eight digs for the Blue and Green in the win.
Thomas Matchett (North Smithfield, R.I.) picked up five putaways, while Matty Tiernan (Bradford, R.I.) produced a team and match-high 27 assists.
On the back line, Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) made a match-high 10 digs for the Gulls.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls have won six of the last seven matchups against the Raiders.
- In the final set, the Gulls hit a whopping .385 from the floor.
- Second time in Iacovelli's career that he has notched back-to-back 20-kill performances (3/27/25 & 4/5/25).
- Over the last two matches, Iacovelli is hitting a combined .538.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (14-3) hosts a tri-match this Saturday, March 14 against Vermont State Johnson and Wheaton (Mass.) (11 AM / 3 PM). Rivier (8-10) hosts Elms in a conference matchup this Thursday at 5 PM.
