NEVC SEMIFINALS: Men’s Volleyball Sweeps SUNY Potsdam To Punch Championship Ticket
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team defeated SUNY Potsdam, 3-0, by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-18 in New England Volleyball Conference (NEVC) Semifinals action on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) led the charge with a match-high 17 kills (.516), three digs, and five block assists to push the Gulls' winning streak to 20 straight matches.
Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) also ripped home 14 kills on 22 swings (.545), while Thomas Matchett (North Smithfield, R.I.) compiled seven kills (.455) and eight blocks (two solo) in the victory.
As a team, the Gulls hit .440 on the evening — fueled by a match-high 42-assist effort from Matty Tiernan (Bradford, R.I.).
Today's match featured 13 ties (0-2-11) and four lead changes (0-0-4).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott leads the all-time series, 7-1 (won last three).
- The Gulls are 10-0 at home this season.
- Aaron Bennett (Haverhill, Mass.) notched six kills, giving him five or more putaways in nine straight matches.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (21-3) hosts the winner of the No. 2 Nichols/No. 3 SUNY Poly tomorrow in the NEVC Championship at 1 PM. SUNY Potsdam's season comes to a close at 12-7 overall.
