BIDDEFORD, Maine — The No. 10 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated the University of New England (UNE), 3-2 (OT), on Friday night in conference action at the Harold Alfond Forum.
After the Nor'easters tied the game with just over a minute remianing in regulation, Julia Carrigan (Northfield, Ill.) scored the game-winner just 58 seconds in overtime for the Gulls while shorthanded.
The freshman blocked a Nor'easters shot in her own zone and split two defenders, allowing her to take the puck coast-to-coast and deking out the goalie for her second goal of the season.
Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) got the scoring started just over five minutes into the second period off an assist from Cammi Ahern (Oswego, N.Y.).
The hosts didn't go away as they tied the game at the 8:19 mark of the third period.
The Gulls then regained their advantage two minutes and 14 seconds later as Mackenzie Graham (Billerica, Mass.) found the back of the net for goal her fourth goal of the season.
UNE sent the game to overtime with just 1:18 remaining following a scramble in front of the net.
Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) stopped 18 saves in the victory as her record improves to 2-2-1 this season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 18-3-0 all-time against UNE (eight straight wins).
- First career game-winning goal for Carrigan.
- With the victory, Moritz moves into sole possesion of third place all-time for most wins in program history.
- Hall has recorded a point in three consecutive games.
