Women's Lacrosse Turns Away WNE, 19-4
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated Western New England, 19-4, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Wednesday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.
Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.) had a career day in the victory for the Gulls.
Clark notched five goals and dished out three assists for eight points. Her point total is a career-high and this is her fourth time in her career scoring five goals in a contest. The junior scored or assisted on seven of Endicott's first eight goals.
Also for the Gulls, Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.) tied a season-high with four assists in addition to her two goals for six points.
Abbie Belleville (Salem, Conn.) and Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.) also found the back of the net twice. To round out the goalscorers, Ava Amara (Southbury, Conn.), Maggie Holt (Cumberland Foreside, Maine), Libby Hooper (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Kendal Kelsey (Queensbury, N.Y.), Sophia Notine (Kennebunk, Maine), Mia Samarjian (Stow, Mass.), Kenzie Velsmid (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), and Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) all recorded solo tallies.
In goal, Severine Michel (Seekonk, Mass.) picked up the win making one save during her 30 minutes of action. Emma Budke (Rye, N.Y.) turned away two shots during the second half as well.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 27-6 all-time against Western New England.
- The Blue and Green held WNE to a season low in goals, points, and shots. The Gulls also scored the most goals against the Golden Bears all season.
- Clark now stands at 99 career goals.
- After her two goals today, Smith has 195 career points, which is tied for 10th in program history.
- Belleville tied a season-high five draw controls and now has 141 for her career. That ranks ninth all-time in program history.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (13-4, 10-0 CNE) has clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CNE Tournament. The Gulls will play next Wednesday, April 29, in the CNE Semifinals with the opponent and time TBD.
Western New England (9-8, 5-5 CNE) will await to see results from other contests across the CNE to see if they secure a spot in the CNE Tournament.
